Data si locul nasterii: 1 Septembrie 1940, in comuna Saliste, jud. Sibiu.

Educatia: Absolvent in 1963 al Facultatii de Matematica, Universitatea Bucuresti.
Teza de doctorat: Doctor in Matematici din 1977 cu teza "Spatii cu caracteristice drepte" (conducator stiintific Acad.Prof. Gh.Vranceanu).
Pozitii academice: A fost preparator in perioada 1963-1964, asistent suplinitor in perioada 1964-1970, asistent titular in perioada 19701978, lector in perioada 1978-1991, conferentiar in perioada 1991-1999 si profesor universitar din 1999.
Cursuri predate: A tinut cursuri si seminarii de Geometrie, Geometrie diferentiala, Grupuri Lie, Teoria curbelor si suprafetelor, Istoria matematicii.
Domenii de interes stiintific: Activitatea stiintifica o desfasoara in domeniul geometriei diferentiale si al grupurilor Lie.

Lector evidentiat in 1981.
A primit premiul "Gheorghe Titeica" al Academiei Romane pe anul 1985.
In perioada 1978-2007 a fost membru al Consiliului Profesoral al Facultatii de Matematica si Informatica, iar in intervalul 2000-2003 a fost Secretarul stiintific al Consiliului Facultatii de Matematica si Informatica.
A fost seful catedrei de Geometrie in perioada 1990 - 2000.
